Following the successful repair and maintenance works to SAFC’s artificial playing facility in 2011 Sustain Landscapes were nominated by the football club to lay the surfaces to the new artificial indoor and outdoor pitches constructed at its academy training facility, the Academy of Light in Cleadon, Sunderland.
Using Lano Profoot MXSi 60 synthetic turf certified to FIFA ** standard, two 3rd generation artificial sports surfaces were laid in filled with sand and rubber.
The indoor pitch situated within the newly constructed training barn measured 4971m2, whilstthe adjacent outdoor floodlit training pitch measured 4184m2.
The works, which were completed to a four week programme, were completed in October 2012.
Additional landscaping works were carried out to complete the project which included:
- Hedge removal
- Grass seeding to bankings
- Native tree planting
- Native shrub planting
- Supply & installation of bat boxes
