Harton Quays Park is the first phase of South Tyneside Council’s Riverside Regeneration Strategy and is designed with the aim of providing additional amenity to the area, a cultural focus and spaces for events. Sustain Landscapes implemented the high specification soft landscaping package, which includes structural grass and floral mixes to provide a barcode of colour, as well as a dramatic pine grove viewing point. Lawned areas frame key views across the estuary and park, as well as providing spectator areas for events spaces. The park, which has received a CEEQUAL Award for Sustainability, will be maintained by Sustain Landscapes for five years following the completion of construction works.
The works involved:
- Specimen tree planting to pine grove viewing area, water feature and soft landscaping area with above and below ground anchoring systems
- Topsoil amelioration
- Planting of structural grass and floral ribbon planting
- Gravel mulching
- Turfing & Grass Seeding
- Grounds Maintenance
