The award-winning Hexham Schools Project constituted a £38 million investment for Northumberland County Council and brought together the Queen Elizabeth High School and Hexham Middle School on to a single campus with exceptional new learning and sports facilities located behind the Grade II Listed Hydro Building.
The landscape plan aimed at maintaining as many existing mature trees and woodland as possible whilst creating a calm and welcoming landscape with new native habitats to encourage biodiversity.
The works included the following:
- Topsoiling, cultivation and soil amelioration.
- Amenity grass and wildflower seeding.
- Planting of ornamental areas with grasses and perennial flower plants.
- Formal Yew hedge planting.
- Screen hedge planting.
- Native woodland planting.
- Ornamental tree planting with 28 different species.
- Construction of a STRI designed senior rugby pitch with full drainage.
