Following the completion of the purchase of nearly two acres of land from Durham County Council in December 2014 works have now commenced on the construction of purpose built premises to enable the continued growth of Sustain Landscapes Ltd.
The land, which is located at Delves Lane Industrial Estate in Consett, will combine commercial office premises, warehouse storage, an outdoor storage area for construction materials and nursery plant stock as well as a waste segregation and recycling area.
From humble beginnings operating out of a portacabin with a van, a tractor and three members of staff in 2008, Sustain Landscapes rapidly expanded requiring a move to their current location on Leadgate Industrial Estate in Consett within 18 months of operation.
With a growing client base, increasing staff numbers and continual investment in specialist horticultural, construction and grounds maintenance machinery it quickly became clear that the premises would soon be outgrown again and so in 2011 the search began to find a permanant home for the Company.
Joe Zazzetta, Company Director, commented ‘The land at Delves Lane Industrial Estate is an ideal location to provide a permanant base from which we can continue to grow the Company for many years to come whilst providing minimal upheaval for our staff, the majority of which live locally. Indeed our location adjacent to the cycle path will enable many members of staff to safely cycle or walk to work adding to our sustainable objectives.
We are delighted that we have been able to grow the Company over the last seven years to reach this stage which has been no mean feat during the recession. Our thanks must go out to our dedicated team of staff whose hard work has resulted in repeat clients, a number of prestigeous North East landscaping schemes under our belt, culminating last year in the receipt of a BALI National Landscaping Award.
The new premises, which should be fully complete in the summer, will provide us with the space to operate more efficiently and sustainably with added benefit of some fantastic views across the countryside!’
